Do you Believe in Fairies? I Do!
Yes, it's true! I do believe in fairies! Just take a look at all these little ones I found down in 'Fairyland'!! Are they not the cutest? You may wonder how this all came to be and how I first found fairyland. It all started when my own daughter, Londyn was younger. She was really into fairies, fairydust, magical fairytales, you name it! I was online searching for some fairy dresses and came across a photograph of a little girl dressed up like a fairy and had professional photos taken. I thought to myself, Londyn would LOVE this! So of course, the rest is history! I took her photos first and posted to facebook and then got messages from clients with interest for their own daughters! Fairy Sessions are some of my FAVORITE sessions to photograph! (Any themed session for that matter). The whole experience is seriously just magical. From the time the little fairies get out of the car in their dresses, to the walk down into fairyland, the smile on their faces is evident! The anticipation in their eyes as we arrive into 'fairyland' is so sweet, they almost immediately start looking everywhere for other fairies! (Because they believe too) which i adore! It's truly a magical little place once these fairies arrive!
Fairyland is a tiny little cove tucked back into the woods here in Monticello at Allerton Park! Once of the reasons i love Allerton is for all the hidden treasures it provides if you take the time to look. I'm not sure how I came across this little area. But it was just perfect for my vision! My fellow partner and I were out scouting locations and knew there was a tiny creek that ran alongside the road. By pure luck we pulled over to the side of the road and walked into the woods blindly. When we came to the creek, it was instant! We looked at each other and smiled, this was it!!! Fairyland was born! Perfectly shaped roots of trees, a shallow sparkling stream, rocks, moss and fallen branches that were 'perfectly' placed, as if it were just waiting for us to find it! And the Sun!! it just peeks through the branches adding a simple flare to scenery! THAT is why i believe, it's almost like real fairies could actually live in this little gem we stumbled upon!
I've now had 3 years of fairy sessions and it never gets old. Last year, I 'took a year' off from them, thinking the idea might be getting 'old'. But the interest was still there, so I did some individual fairy sessions and realized how much i missed them! We even added some siblings (boys, eeeek) to the mix and found that this place was not only meant for fairies, but little fishermen, boys playing in mud and much more! As you can also see in the above photo, we even brought along our very own frog, to make the moment even more of a fairytale!
This Fairy project has honestly grown to be so much more for me over the years! I truly enjoy them from start to finish! I love how much the little ones get into it, with their gorgeous fairy dresses, glitter, fairy figurines, wands, wings, you name it!! Watching them look for fairies in their lanterns, in the trees, jumping, splashing and the joy that radiates. It's honestly about the experience as much as it is the photographs! Capturing it all in photos is just a bonus!
I just want to say thanks so much to all my fairies and their parents for making this what it is and i hope you are STILL enjoying those memories from fairyland and your experience there. Thanks for all you do to make this happen for your little girls! (and boys) . I can't wait to offer these again this coming May! Watch for Details coming soon!!
